California has a recidivism rate of 70%, the highest rate in the nation. What are we doing to reduce this rate of recidivism? What are the costs of mass imprisonment to our society and to our communities? What are we doing for people when they are in prison/jail and when they are released? What are some of the innovative approaches to reentry and rehabilitation that are currently being implemented?

Please join us for a discussion on the critical issues of rehabilitation and reentry. We will be joined by some of California’s most outspoken leaders and advocates on this issue.

All are welcome.

Jan. 28 Citizen Hope Mixer with Local Electeds

As President Barack Obama assumes office, we hope to build on the renewed spirit of cooperation and community building from the ground up. With this in mind, Citizen Hope is hosting a mixer with your local elected officials in San Francisco.

It’s on Wed., Jan. 28, from 6 p.m. at Mercury Lounge, 1582 Folsom St., San Francisco.  Facebook link here.

From advancing educational opportunity to ensuring vibrant and healthy neighborhoods, our elected leaders will need to hear from you so that we can create the change we need here in San Francisco and around the Bay Area.

You don’t need to be a political junkie to come to this event. We all should know who are elected leaders are, and they should know we are as well. All are welcome.
